SagaTel was founded in 1980 by Charles Abraham, Jean-Paul Aymar and Albert Glowinski. The three entrepreneurs had held key roles for the past 15 years at the Centre National d’Etudes des Télécommunicationes (CNET). The CNET is the research center of the Direction Générale des Télécommunications which is today known as France Telecom.

The activities of the SagaTel group comprise: studies, consultancy and strategy in telecommunications in addition to private networks and facility management.
