NTT was created in 1952 after the government decided to reorganise communication services into a public company catering to the domestic market. In 1953 the international division was spun-off to form a separate corporation, Kokusai Denshin Denwa (KDD). NTT was privatised in 1985 by the Japanese government through the NTT Law, which also decided to deregulate partially the market for other operators to enter. More...
