Fixed connections and incumbents market share

As illustrated by Fig. 1, of the ten West European countries examined here, Sweden has clearly the highest population penetration of fixed lines connections (total of POTS and ISDN subscribers). Indeed, Sweden penetration has historically been very high, about ten percentage points higher than in Switzerland, the country with the second highest penetration. Then comes a group of countries, comprising France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, which all have penetration levels between 45% and 55%. More...
