The telecom industry generated net revenues of $1 100bn in 2004. The Top-20 world operators hold 57% of the market, concentrating the majority of the net revenues in the world among Western European and US companies (Fig. 1). It is, however, the Japanese incumbent, NTT, that leads the Top-20 ranking with a market share of 7.1% for revenues totalling $77bn. More...
