The top-20 firms in the world market generated $622bn in total revenues for the year 2004, i.e. 57.1% of the total revenues for all telecommunications services. As seen in Fig. 1, the top-ranking firm is the Japanese incumbent, NTT, holding a 7.1 % market share.
