Though fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) is a widely spread term those days in the telecom industry,
it is hard to find an exact definition for it. As shown in Fig. 1, several types of convergence
can be considered. There are technical aspects such as network convergence from traditional
fixed or mobile voice and data networks to purely integrated IP based networks, or service
related aspects such as the convergence of fixed and mobile voice and data services.
