Incumbents´ market share of telephone channels
In 2004, Germany had the largest number of telephone channels
(including cable telephony, POTS and ISDN) among the Western
European countries, with about 54.6m, followed by the UK with 35.3m
and France with 33.8m (see Fig. 1). As seen from the chart, incumbents
in each country still hold a significant share of the fixed telephone channels.
