Arcor: a fairy tale?
Prologue
Once upon a time – to be accurate in early 2000 – a giant called Vodafone bought an attractive bride called Mannesmann.
What made old lady Mannesmann such attractive was her young daughter D2, one of the two leading German mobile operators.
But, alas, there was another daughter called Arcor that did not suit at all the mighty Vodafone.
In the times of mobile hype and hysteria, Arcor was active in a business considered to have no real profitable and
attractive future: fixed line services.
