Public WLAN offers in Europe

In the sector of mobile broadband solutions, Wireless LAN or WiFi services andapplications enjoy the most positive forecasts for the next 5 years. Indeed, here comes a big "BUT" that qualifies too optimistic forecasts, a story already seen with UMTS. Revenue forecasts often concern mainly the equipment and terminal sector and consider very little the generated revenues by pure service provision. Even if in 2007 more than 60% of all sold PCs are said to have an integrated WLAN card, this only shows the previewed unique revenues for manufacturers and does not tell anything about whether these cards are mainly used for private or for public WLAN accesses, respectively what revenues they will generate for access and content providers.
